This Privacy Policy describes how Digital Cards Wallet (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
Card images: When you take a photo of a business card (or similar card) using the camera in the app, that image is uploaded (if you choose to save it) and stored so you can view it later.
Extracted card data: With your permission the app scans (scrapes) the card image using an AI/optical character recognition (OCR) process to extract details such as name, phone number, email, company, address, and other textual information you choose to capture.
Account information: If the app offers an account or user profile, you may provide an email address, display name, or other profile data.
1.2 Data collected automatically
Usage data: App usage events, crash logs, and diagnostic information may be collected to help us improve the app.
1.3 Third-party services
We use third-party services to store, process, and manage data, payments, and analytics. These include:
MongoDB Atlas — to store extracted text data and metadata.
Cloudinary — to store and deliver card images you save in the app.
AI/OCR provider — to process card images and extract text.
RevenueCat — to manage in-app purchases and subscription data.
Render — to host and deploy our backend APIs securely.
Google Play Billing — to handle in-app purchases and payments through Google Play.
These providers have their own privacy policies; by using the app, you agree to the transmission of data to these services as necessary for app functionality.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide and operate the app’s core features (store card images, display saved cards, enable search and retrieval).
Process images to extract card details using AI/OCR when you request it.
Manage subscriptions, payments, and billing through third-party services like RevenueCat and Google Play Billing.
Improve, maintain, and debug the app.
Communicate with you about the app (if you provide contact details).
We DO NOT share your personal data to third parties.
3. Camera Access
The app requests access to your device camera for two purposes:
To capture card images for scanning and extracting contact data.
To capture and save a card image so you can view the original card photo later.
You can deny camera permission; denying permission will prevent these features from working.
4. Sharing and Disclosure
We will not share or disclose your personal data except in the following limited circumstances:
With service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g., Cloudinary, MongoDB, RevenueCat, Render, AI/OCR provider, Google Play Billing). These providers are contractually limited to using data only to provide services to us.
To comply with legal obligations (court order, law enforcement requests).
In connection with a business transaction (sale, merger, change of control). We will notify you before data is transferred and becomes subject to another privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your card images, extracted card data, and account information for as long as your account exists or as necessary to provide the service, unless you request deletion. Retention times may vary depending on backups, legal obligations, or other business needs.
If you want your data deleted, follow the instructions below in Your Rights.
6. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards intended to protect your information. For example:
Encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) when uploading images and data.
Access controls for our cloud storage, billing, and database systems.
No system is perfectly secure — please do not store extremely sensitive information in your cards unless you are comfortable with the risk.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Access & correction: You can review and edit extracted card data in the app.
Delete: You may delete card images and extracted data from your account. To request deletion of data from our servers, contact us using the details below.
Opt-out of processing: If you do not want images processed by our AI/OCR, do not use the scan feature — you may still save card images without extracting data.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If you believe we have collected such data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries outside your residence (for example to cloud providers in other regions). Those countries may have different data protection laws.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify users of material changes.
